Shatavari Legiyam is a traditional herbal formulation made using the root of Asparagus racemosus (known as Shatavari in Sanskrit and Shatavari Ver in Tamil), It is widely known in Siddha for its ability to support women’s reproductive health, including regulating menstrual cycles, improving fertility, and boosting lactation in postpartum women. The formulation is rich in phytoestrogens, which help balance hormones naturally, making it beneficial for conditions like PCOS, irregular periods, and menopausal discomfort. Shatavari Legiyam also works as a general adaptogenic and anti-inflammatory tonic, helping to calm stress, anxiety, and digestive disturbances. It is traditionally used to relieve burning sensations, internal dryness, fatigue, and low immunity, especially in individuals with Pitha-related imbalances. In both men and women, it acts as a body rejuvenator (Kayakalpa) by nourishing the tissues (Dhatus) and strengthening the reproductive system. The ghee in the legiyam acts as a carrier (anupana), improving the absorption of the herbs and nourishing the body's core systems. It is generally well-tolerated, but must be used under medical supervision. As a holistic tonic, Shatavari Legiyam is a powerful tool in Siddha medicine for restoring balance, strength, and vitality, particularly in women.
