Vedanantaka Rasa for internal use is a classical Ayurvedic medicine combining Ahiphena (purified opium) as a mild analgesic, Cinnamomum camphora (camphor) for its warming and circulation-supporting effects, and Hyoscyamus niger (henbane) contributing antispasmodic and soothing action. The synergy of these ingredients supports relief from Vataja Shula (Vata-induced pain) by enabling mild sedation (from Ahiphena), enhanced local circulation (from camphor), and muscle relaxation (from Hyoscyamus). Camphor’s aromatic profile may additionally aid in calming mental restlessness. Each component is used after classical purification (shodhana) to reduce toxicity and enhance therapeutic benefit. This formulation is intended only for short-term use under a registered Vaidya’s supervision due to the controlled nature of Ahiphena and potential central effects of Hyoscyamus.
